Hi, I’m Jenn! I’m in the Foodess kitchen making a spectacular mess and making something delicious, in roughly equal parts. Join me!
I grew up on the Canadian North-Atlantic, where regular “maritime kitchen parties” filled my heart and belly: friends and family laughing and talking loudly as everyone gathers cozily around the steaming pots. Totally casual, no pretenses, often no invitation, and typically what was served was what my mom calls “lucky pot dinner” (you’re lucky there’s something in the pot). All the warmth and come-as-you-are homey-ness you could hope for.
On Foodess, expect globally-inspired comfort-food and baking recipes, lots of pictures, plenty of opinionated ingredient and cooking tips, as well as stories from my own kitchen, life and travels. I like to think of this little nook of the internet as my own kitchen party – a warm, happy, noisy gathering place to share life over good food. I really hope you see it that way, too. I’m so honoured that you bring my recipes into your kitchens to feed your loved ones.
I have a background in food science and nutrition, and started Foodess as a creative outlet during a particularly heavy part of my degree. Food labs and chemistry textbooks were sanitizing my reasons for choosing a culinary path in the first place: a love of feeding people and a life spent obsessing about what I could eat next.
I began my cooking career with a job developing recipes in a test kitchen and providing technical baking support to bakeries and home bakers for a flour company. Want to know why your bread didn’t rise? I got your back.
I now work full time as a blogger, with a side of freelance food photography, recipe development and food writing. (And, of course, a lot of momming to my sweet boys.)
Want to work together?
I offer freelance food photography, recipe creating, food writing and more, and am open to meaningful collaborations with the right brands for sponsored posts.
