Welcome to Foodess
Hi there, you! I’m Jennifer Pallian (but you can call me Jenn), the voice behind Foodess.
I’m a nutritionist, food scientist, and seasoned food writer for various magazines and publications. You may have seen me in Better Homes and Gardens, Men’s Health, Jamie Oliver, CBS, FOX News, and Food Network. As a member of the Chatelaine Magazine national test kitchen, I contribute regular recipes and Cooking School features.
After earning my science degree in Food, Nutrition and Health and credentials as a Registered Dietitian, I realized my true passion was not just the science of food, but distilling that knowledge down to make fail-proof recipes that make it easier to eat deliciously well.
I started my career in a professional test kitchen for a flour company, where I honed my recipe development skills and did a deep dive into professional baking and product development (psst. you really must try my no-fail flaky pie crust recipe!).
Now, I work full time in food writing, recipe testing and content creating.
On Foodess, you’ll find obsessively-well-tested recipes (like the Fluffy Vanilla Cupcake recipe and Easy Frosting recipe I spent my adult life perfecting as well as step-by-step guides and hacks (like How to Make a Poached Egg in the Microwave).
My goal is to give you makeable, cozy recipes and simple tips rooted in food science to make everyday cooking faster, easier, tastier, more successful and totally stress free.
I live in Vancouver with my Indian husband Adarsh, who’s the official taste tester for all our Indian recipes. He gives me the final sign-off on publishing dishes like the Butter Naan I spent 19 years testing, our authentic Chai Tea recipe or the fan-favourite Butter Chicken.
When I’m not writing or experimenting with new recipes, you can find me exploring the great outdoors or bingeing cozy mystery novels.
I am so happy you are here!
Foodess was a finalist in Saveur Magazine’s Blog Awards for Best Original Recipes; was one of the Huffington Post’s “Top Ten Food Bloggers” and “Best Health Tweeters“; one of Today’s Parent Magazine’s “24 most awesome parents on social media” and was featured on Fine Cooking magazine’s “Best of the Blogs”. I’m so honored to be named among “the country’s top food talent” by Canada’s leading women’s brand, Chatelaine Magazine, and “Canadian top 10 influencer” by Canadian Living Magazine.
