Welcome to Foodess, your go-to source for everything you need to make your cooking life easier, quicker, tastier and more successful!
I’m Jennifer Pallian (but you can call me Jenn!). I’m the recipe developer, writer and photographer behind the blog.
With a background in food science, I’m a nutritionist, food scientist, and seasoned food writer for various magazines and publications (like Better Homes and Gardens, Jamie Oliver, Food Network and Chatelaine).
After earning my science degree in Food, Nutrition and Health and credentials as a Registered Dietitian, I realized my true passion was not just understanding the science of food, but teaching people how to use that information to simplify, fail-proof and basically upgrade their cooking.
I started my career in a professional test kitchen for a Canadian flour company, where I honed my recipe development skills. I also provided support to bakers on technical side of things, offering guidance and trouble shooting for home cooks and bakeries alike.
Now, I work full time on Foodess, where you’ll find meticulously-tested recipes, step-by-step guides that cut through the jargon, and easy-to-grasp food science that’ll equip you with the skills and confidence you need in the kitchen.
I live in Vancouver, Canada, with her hungry Indian husband Adarsh (who influences a lot of the fan-favorite Indian recipes you’ll find here!), and their three little peanuts, Theo, Everett and Miles. When I’m not writing or experimenting with new recipes, you can find me exploring the great outdoors or bingeing cozy mystery novels.
I am so happy you are here!
Foodess was a finalist in Saveur Magazine’s Blog Awards for Best Original Recipes; was one of the Huffington Post’s “Top Ten Food Bloggers” and “Best Health Tweeters“; one of Today’s Parent Magazine’s “24 most awesome parents on social media” and was featured on Fine Cooking magazine’s “Best of the Blogs”. I’m so honored to be named among “the country’s top food talent” by Canada’s leading women’s brand, Chatelaine Magazine, and “Canadian top 10 influencer” by Canadian Living Magazine.
