Holiday Spiced Apple Cocktail

I know it’s still November, but it’s Christmas in my heart – so today, we have a Christmas cocktail!

We’re going to India in a few weeks, and we won’t be celebrating on the 25th. Therefore, I consider it fully appropriate that the garland is hung, strings of coloured bulbs are lit, and Michael Bublé is crooning soulfully throughout the apartment about how all he wants for Christmas is me.

If you’re not feeling merry just yet, it doubles as an excellent Thanksgiving or fall dinner party cocktail. I love the gorgeous holiday flavours of apple cider and spice, and the generous pour of warming bourbon.

Served ice cold, it’s just sweet enough to be reeeeeally easy to drink, without being sticky or cloying.

Apple cider, maple syrup, cinnamon and bourbon, shaken over ice, served with an apple slice (see how it’s naturally adorned with a festive little star?) – that’s all you need, and soon you’ll be hanging stockings and enjoying a luscious earful of the Bube.

(Yes, that’s pronounced “Boob” – that’s what we call Bublé here in his hometown. With abundant affection, of course.)

When do you start celebrating Christmas? Do you have a favourite holiday cocktail?
