These Alcohol Popsicles, or “winesicles,” are a favorite grown‑up summer treat. Sweet cherries blend with red wine in a boozy frozen pop.

Alcohol Popsicles Inspired by Sangria
It’s no secret I love all kinds of popsicles. From Strawberry Popsicles and Yogurt Popsicles to this frozen s’mores dessert that’s basically a S’mores popsicle.
Today, I used my fresh-from-the-orchard cherries to bring you an alcohol popsicle that I call Sangria Popsicles, or Winesicles! I’m so hooked. They’re easy to make, look gorgeous, and are perfect for backyard parties or a lazy sunny afternoon.

I blended Merlot – a soft, smooth red – with fresh, pitted cherries and poured it into popsicle molds for a frozen wine cocktail. They’ve got serious style, and I’m sure they’d be a hit at parties – not to mention a great conversation starter. And so easy!
In alcohol popsicles, just like in sangria, fresh cherries really play up the wine’s ripe cherry flavour. (Try my Cherry Muffins and Cherry Cheesecake Bars, too, cherry lovers!)

Because of the alcohol content, these popsicles won’t freeze as hard and will melt faster than other ice pops. Run them under hot water until they release easily, or they might break. (Or try my Cherry Cheesecake Popsicles instead!)
Serve them with cloth napkins to catch drips – don’t bother ironing them, I love the rumpled casual-but-still-classy look of natural cotton or linen.
