If you’ve never made homemade peach shaved ice, this is the recipe to start with.
It’s sweet, juicy, and peachy—but not too sweet. Think of it like a peach granita meets a snow cone. Cold, fluffy ice soaks up the syrup and melts in your mouth.
It’s one of my favorite ways to cool down on hot days. No fancy machine needed. Just a blender, some peaches, and ice. Kids love it. Adults do too.

Here’s What You Need
You only need a few ingredients to pull this off, and there’s lots of room to experiment.

Peach Shaved Ice Ingredients

- Ripe peaches: fresh or thawed frozen peaches both work well—go for sweet and juicy
- Granulated sugar: keeps the syrup smooth and adds just the right amount of sweetness
- Lemon juice: brightens up the syrup and balances the fruit
- Water: used for both the syrup and to help crush the ice
- Ice cubes: the base of the shaved ice—any standard tray ice will do
Variations and Substitutions
There’s room to tweak this depending on what you’ve got.
- Use frozen peaches: just thaw them first so they blend properly
- Try other fruit: nectarines, mango, or strawberries would all be great
- Add herbs: a sprig of mint or basil in the syrup adds a fresh twist
- Use maple syrup or honey: for a different sweetener, just add to taste
- Make it BOOZY: serve 1-2 oz of bourbon poured on top.

– To chill syrup quickly, pour into a zip-top freezer bag, seal tightly, then submerge in an ice bath for about 15 minutes, adding more ice as it melts.
– Feel free to substitute an equal quantity of frozen peaches for fresh – just thaw them first.
– In this snow cone, bourbon adds a subtle boozy kick. Feel free to adjust the quantity upward (or omit it, for kiddies) as desired.

Peach Shaved Ice Recipe (Snow Cone!)
Ingredients
- ½ cup water
- 4 cups sliced ripe peaches about 1 lb
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 2 tsp lemon juice
- 6 cups ice cubes
- 4 cups cold water
Instructions
- Blend peaches, water, sugar, and lemon juice until smooth.
- Transfer to a saucepan and simmer for 5–7 minutes to dissolve the sugar.
- Cool the syrup completely in the fridge, about 2 hours.
- Blend the ice cubes and water until finely crushed. Drain off any excess water using a fine mesh sieve.
- Scoop about 1 cup of crushed ice into bowls. Drizzle with ¼ cup peach syrup. Serve right away.
Notes
To chill the syrup faster, transfer it to a zip-top bag and submerge it in an ice bath.
Leftover syrup keeps well in the fridge for up to 7 days. You can use it on yogurt, pancakes, or even in drinks.
