Here are a few of my favourite unique riffs on the classic green smoothie.
Ginger Orange Matcha Green Tea Smoothie
This deliciously off-beat green smoothie pairs satsuma or Cara Cara oranges with fresh ginger for a crisp, bright and healthy breakfast. Oh, and a gentle caffeine kick, thanks to the matcha green tea powder.
Looking for something light, crisp and wonderfully green?
Cucumber, spinach and kale are whizzed together with water, lemon, green apple and a touch of natural sweetener for an almost-green-juice that’ll leave you feeling like a million bucks.
If this fresh and light smoothie isn’t the crisp flavours of summer in a glass, I don’t know what is.
Part freshly squeezed juice, part detox smoothie, ginger, grapefruit, apple and strawberry are whizzed with water for a wonderfully flavour-packed pick-me-up.
There’s just something about the wonderfully earthy flavour of beets.
Especially when they’re used in lieu of it’s more common, and sweeter berry, banana, mango counterparts (although if you love sweet mango, you must try this Mango Kulfi recipe).
If you don’t have a freezer full of uber-ripe peeled and sliced bananas ready to be tossed into whichever smoothie, bread or muffin you feel the need for, who even are you?
Bananas; the perfectly versatile, always available, go-to smoothie ingredient. You can dress them down and dress them up so many ways.
Here’s a few I’d recommend.
Carrot Ginger Citrus Smoothie
This is another one of those snuck-the-veggies-in smoothies.
Immune-boosting carrots dance with other wonderfully orange ingredients for a flavour-packed smoothie you’ll be adding to your recipe collection, STAT.
To all my pumpkin pie fans out there, I know the question you’ve been pondering. Because I’ve been wondering the same thing.
Is there a way to make pumpkin pie into an easy, nutritious, and filling breakfast?
Why yes, yes indeed, there is.
This Pumpkin Pie Smoothie combines banana and dates for a touch of sweetness, a sprinkle of home-y, warming cinnamon, and one last secret ingredient that makes this smoothie pumpkin-y.
And it’s not pumpkin.
Any guesses?

I mean, who doesn’t love PB & J?

If it isn’t made with coconut milk, is a tropical smoothie really even tropical?
This delish Tropical Green Smoothie from Nyssa’s Kitchen is kinda like a pina colada, only 100 times healthier. Oh, and there’s ginger. I truly love the fresh kick of ginger in all types of recipes, but when it’s used to balance the creaminess of banana and coconut milk, it’s even better.
Papaya Mojito Smoothie
Papaya, lime, mint and pineapple. Need I say more?
If you’ve ever walked by beautifully ripe papayas in your grocery store, wondering what you could do with them, I present to you – the Papaya Mojito Smoothie by Choosing Chia.
Mango Pineapple Glow Smoothie
Hypothetically, if all the fruit in the blender was yellow and orange, you could, of course – hypothetically, add in a handful of vegetables, right?

Or… the latter – when your home is filled with a serenade of sneezing, coughing and groaning?
If there’s anything that will blast that cold or flu to the curb, it’s this wonderfully vibrant health bomb in a cup.
The anti-inflammatory and anti-nauseating properties of turmeric and ginger are complemented by vitamin c-packed oranges and gut-boosting kefir for a potent elixir in this must-bookmark recipe.
Chocolate Smoothies
Chocolate Hazelnut Smoothie

If your childhood was filled with as many happy memories of Nutella as mine was, this healthy spin on a classic will quickly become your go-to, too.
What’s even better? There’s an option to add… dare I say it? *gasp* …cauliflower to this one. Don’t miss it.
Secretly Healthy Chocolate Breakfast Smoothie
It’s no secret that many smoothie recipes depend on sometimes-pricy powdered supplements to up the protein. This incredibly filling and Healthy Chocolate Breakfast Smoothie, doesn’t fit into that category.
I’ve added a simple yet uncommon ingredient to add some protein naturally, as well as rolled oats and dates for some added fiber.
