These are my best 4th of July recipes for an easy cookout menu.
I split everything into appetizers, burgers, grilled chicken and BBQ, salads and sides, drinks and desserts. Many of my fourth of july recipe ideas are make-ahead, so you can relax when guests arrive, so fire up the grill and grab a cold one!
Cookout Appetizers
1. Red, White & Blue Crostini
I’ve got a full collection of 4th of July Appetizer recipes, but you can’t miss this one because it’s so darn perfect.

Set out a platter of strawberry goat cheese crostini while the grill heats up. Add some blueberries for all the colors of the flag. It is the first thing to disappear at every cookout!
Burgers for Your 4th of July Cookout
Start with the main event. These five burgers cover everyone at the table, from beef lovers to the vegetarian in the crowd.
2. Juicy Beef and Mushroom Burgers with Swiss

I blend browned mushrooms right into these Juicy Beef and Mushroom Burgers with Swiss. They lock in moisture and add a deep, savory flavor. Even the beef purists at your cookout will ask how you made them.
3. My Best Turkey Burger

Turkey burgers have a reputation for being dry and bland. Mine are the opposite. They stay moist and juicy, and they make a lighter option next to the beef.
4. The Ultimate Ground Chicken Burgers

Ground chicken can go dry fast, so my Ultimate Ground Chicken Burgers get a little mayo and panko mixed right into the patty. The result is juicy, tender, and packed with flavor from garlic and herbs. A lighter alternative to beef that holds its own on the grill.
5. Moist and Flaky Salmon Burgers

These Moist and Flaky Salmon Burgers are the seafood option you didn’t know you needed at a cookout. Just a handful of ingredients, ready in minutes, and the fresh avocado and crunchy slaw on top make them feel restaurant-special. I am telling you, even the salmon skeptics will be reaching for seconds.
6. Easy Chickpea Burgers

Every cookout needs a good vegetarian option. These Easy Chickpea Burgers are crisp outside and fluffy inside, with big flavor. The texture holds together well enough to go right on the grill. I served these alongside regular burgers at a catered BBQ event and people had a hard time deciding which they liked best. For a vegetarian burger, that REALLY SAYS SOMETHING.

Chicken is the workhorse of any 4th of July grill. These juicy recipes do the heavy lifting for you.
7. Grilled Honey Mustard Chicken Thighs

8. Sweet and Spicy Grilled Lime Chicken

This Sweet and Spicy Grilled Lime Chicken marinade hits salty, sweet, spicy, and sour all at once. Brown sugar, fresh lime, and a little cayenne do the work. The drumsticks come off the grill sticky and finger-licking good.
9. Juicy Garlic Parmesan Chicken Skewers

Food on a stick is basically a 4th of July requirement. My Garlic Parmesan Chicken Skewers soak up a buttery, garlicky marinade and char to golden on the grill. They are easy for guests to grab while they mingle.
10. Oven-Baked Honey BBQ Chicken Drumsticks

Drumsticks are the most forgiving cut for a crowd. My Honey BBQ Chicken Drumsticks get a sticky glaze that caramelizes into a deep, lacquered finish. Bake them ahead, then finish on the grill for a smoky char, or skip the grill entirely. Kids love them, adults love them, and they hold their heat on a serving platter.
11. Grilled Boneless Chicken Thighs

These Grilled Boneless Chicken Thighs come off the grill juicy every time. A quick marinade keeps them tender and full of flavor. They feed a crowd without any fuss.

My Balsamic Chicken Marinade is my secret for the juiciest grilled chicken. Mix it up ahead, then grill when guests arrive. It is an easy make-ahead win for the cookout.
Easy Cookout Salads and Sides

No cookout plate is complete without potato salad. My Creamy Potato Salad with Eggs is creamy, tangy, and studded with hard-boiled egg. I make a big bowl and it disappears every time.
14. World’s Best Macaroni Salad

This is the macaroni salad that earned its name. My World’s Best Macaroni Salad has cubes of sharp cheddar, crisp celery, sweet onion, and a perfectly tangy mayo dressing all wrapped around tender macaroni. Make it the night before. The flavor gets even better.
15. Pasta Salad with Italian Dressing

A zippy homemade Italian dressing makes my Pasta Salad with Italian Dressing sing. The trick is salting your pasta water well and cooling the noodles fast so they stay al dente, never gluey. It’s the side I make on repeat all summer long.
16. The Best Coleslaw

Crunchy, creamy coleslaw is the side that goes with everything. It cools down spicy food and adds crunch to every burger. You can make it a few hours ahead and keep it cold.
17. Mexican Street Corn Salad

My Mexican Street Corn Salad has all the flavor of street corn in a scoopable salad. Charred corn, lime, and cotija come together fast. It brings a pop of color to the table.
18. Strawberry Caprese Salad

Sweet, peak-season strawberries replace the usual tomatoes in my Strawberry Caprese Salad. 23. Israeli Salad

My Israeli Salad is a fresh, finely chopped cucumber and tomato salad. It is light, crisp, and easy to make. A bright side that balances all the grilled mains.
24. Grilled Eggplant with Whipped Feta

My Grilled Eggplant with Whipped Feta is a smoky, creamy side off the grill. The charred slices sit on a cloud of whipped feta. It is an easy vegetable everyone fights over.
4th of July Drinks
Keep everyone cool with a pitcher or two. These drinks are easy to scale up for a crowd.
25. Strawberry Lemonade

Nothing beats cold, tart Strawberry Lemonade on the 4th of July. Fresh strawberries make it pink and a little sweet. Make a big batch and keep it on ice.
26. Rosé Sangria with Fresh Peaches

My Rosé Sangria is my grown-up drink of choice for summer parties. Rosé, fresh peaches, and a little fizz make it light and easy to sip. Stir it together ahead and let it chill.
27. 10-Minute Iced Tea

Sometimes you just want a big glass of iced tea. This one takes ten minutes and tastes far better than store-bought. Serve it over plenty of ice with lemon.
Red, White & Blue 4th of July Desserts
End the night on a high note. These desserts are make-ahead friendly, so you are free when the fireworks start.
28. Classic Blueberry Pie
