A fresh single-glass strawberry lemonade made by muddling ripe berries with sugar, then topping with lemon juice and cold water. Bright, summery, and ready in minutes.
Place the strawberries and sugar in the bottom of a serving glass and muddle well, until the berries are almost a purée (you need to be able to suck them up a straw!) and the sugar is dissolved. Add the lemon juice and water and stir well. Serve over ice cubes (or frozen whole strawberries) to keep it chilled, if desired.
Notes
Muddle well: Crush the strawberries until almost puréed so the flavour disperses and the bits slip up a straw.Adjust sweetness: Start with 2 tbsp sugar and add more to taste, depending on your berries and lemon.Chill without diluting: Freeze whole strawberries to use as flavour-packed "ice cubes."Scale up: Multiply for a pitcher — muddle the strawberries and sugar together first, then stir in the lemon and water.
