Add them fresh each time rather than storing in the dressing.Lemon zest: Don't skip the zest. It contains the essential oils from the skin that give the dressing its vivid, true lemon flavor. A microplane works best for finely grating it without the bitter white pith underneath.Buttermilk substitute: If you don't have buttermilk, plain Greek yogurt thinned with a splash of milk also works.
