- 2 ¼ cups chocolate chips or chopped chocolate (I like to use 1/2 semisweet and 1/2 milk chocolate)
- 1 can sweetened condensed milk 14 oz or 300 mL
Prepare a 9x5” loaf pan by lining it with parchment paper.
In a microwave-safe bowl, mix chocolate chips and sweetened condensed milk.
Microwave the mixture for 2 minutes on 50% power, stir, then microwave again for 30 seconds or until chocolate is fully melted and the mixture has thickened.
Scrape the mixture into the prepared pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
Refrigerate the fudge for 2 hours or until it is completely set.
Remove the fudge from the pan using the parchment paper and cut into squares.
- Sweetened condensed milk comes in different measurements depending on where you are. In the US, a can is labeled as 14 oz by weight. Elsewhere, it's marked as 300 mL by volume. Don't worry, though; both cans contain the same amount of milk. The difference is due to how weight and volume are measured – ounces for weight and milliliters for volume – and these measurements can vary based on the density of the product.
- I love to use half semisweet and half milk chocolate. I find this creates a really delicious flavor that's perfectly rich and chocolatey in line with the creamy texture. You could do all semi-sweet chocolate, but this makes a very rich dark chocolate flavor.
- Avoid overheating the chocolate to keep it from becoming grainy.
- For a stovetop method, melt the ingredients together over a double boiler, stirring constantly.
- To achieve a smooth surface on your fudge, use pressing motions with a spatula instead of spreading back and forth.
- Store the fudge in an airtight container at room temperature or in the refrigerator for longer freshness.
- To add a topping like sprinkles, sea salt, nuts, or mini chocolate chips, sprinkle it over the fudge while it's still warm, before setting.
