The 5 Strawberry Recipes you MUST Make This July
Hi friends, strawberry recipes for you today! I’m just saying hello from my office-bound berry coma. The post below is written by Janyn Zoccoli. xo
With so many strawberry recipes to choose from it’s hard to know where to start. Strawberry season is definitely my favourite season (with peach season being a VERY close second) because of the flavour and smell produced from biting into a fresh local strawberry. Now that July is in full swing, it’s time to dig out the best strawberry recipes and get hulling.
I grew up having orchards in my backyard and always being a quick bike ride away from a local fruit stand. This made me appreciate the quality and freshness of local produce, not to mention the hard work and dedication of local producers. I always look forward to spending my summers back home in Niagara because I get to experience the local fruit at its best. Jenn and I, although on opposite sides of the country, are both so lucky to currently live in places that can grow beautiful, fresh produce. It’s these quality starting ingredients from which the tastiest dishes are created.
I have compiled my five favourite strawberry recipes, including: desserts, appetizers, and jam (of course!). So pick your favourites, splurge on a flat of local strawberries, and get cooking!
I think Jenn describes this recipe the best as, “kind of like strawberry shortcake the lazy way”. This ‘lazy shortcake’ is filled with juicy strawberries infused with rose syrup and complimented by a buttery biscuit topping. Pin this recipe and make it for your next summer BBQ or picnic.
Didn’t get a chance to make a batch of homemade strawberry jam? Have you been craving a peanut butter and jam sandwich with fresh strawberry jam? This recipe is the solution to all your urgent strawberry jam needs! This recipe calls for chia seeds, which naturally create a gel when submerged in liquid. Combine the chia seeds with mashed strawberries and sweetener and BAM! you have delicious homemade jam!
Strawberries are not just for desserts! The sweetness from the fresh strawberries, balanced with the tartness of the balsamic vinegar and all tied together with the creaminess from the goat cheese… these crostinis are to die for! They are an easy and eye-catching appetizer for your next summer BBQ that the whole family will love.
It seems strawberry dessert options can be endless but personally, this one takes the cake (no pun intended!). The added buttermilk creates a very moist and spongy cake base with the strawberries adding a sweet and ever-so aesthetically pleasing topping. Add a drizzle of vanilla icing and you’re set for your next special occasion.
Like chocolate-covered strawberries… but better! The filling is made with melted white chocolate combined with whipping cream to give it a light and creamy texture, then topped with delicious jam-glazed strawberries and all wrapped in a crumbly graham cracker crust. This recipe is so easy and mouth-watering you will be making it all summer long.
