Turmeric & Ginger Immunity Smoothie

Well, it is officially cold season. Everyone around here seems to have it – the bug that mostly stays in the background but just won’t go away. It surfaces every few days with an evening or morning of feeling definitely under the weather, then recedes again.

My son started preschool a few weeks ago, so that doesn’t help. I dropped in toward the end of one of their classes and they were singing a song with instruments. Every time they finished the chorus, they’d pass their instrument to the person sitting to their left, and accept a new one from the person to their right. Very cute, and exceptionally effective at sharing a wet sneeze among the whole group.

We’ve been taking daily probiotics, practicing lots of hand-washing, eating lots of soup (to the dismay of my soup-loathing husband – seriously, who hates soup?!), and doing whatever else we can to keep healthy.

Like the immunity smoothie! The sunny, golden hue makes me feel better just looking at it.  Made with orange juice for cold-busting vitamin C, manuka honey (which has known antibacterial properties), ginger (to warm up from the inside) and turmeric (an anti-inflammatory), and immune-boosting probiotics.

Ginger and orange are delicious together, and the turmeric just blends in – it just has a very subtle earthiness. Trust me, it tastes really good (I wouldn’t drink it otherwise).

Enjoy, and stay healthy!
