I'm a sucker for a good cooking show - and I am easily hooked on the "home cook" genre of competitions. (Guilty secret - there's actually one that I've devoured the American, Canadian, Australian and Indian versions of...)

On The Menu is a new show premiering on TNT tonight (October 3rd at 8/7c) featuring Chef Emeril Lagasse, whom you know I love, and host Ty Pennington, that promises to be equal parts gripping and hunger-inducing.

Actually, it'll be hunger-inducing and hunger-satisfying.

How many times have you eagerly watched a TV chef whip up something delicious on-screen while you sit drooling from the edge of your seat, casting sad, resentful glances at your bowl of stale-ish pretzels? Wouldn't you give your kingdom for a sample what they're making? The best part of this show is that you can actually go taste the winning dishes yourself!

Contestants of the On The Menu show are passionate home cooks challenged with creating the next menu item for classic American restaurants (like Chili's, Denny's, Planet Hollywood, California Pizza Kitchen, The Cheesecake Factory, etc.) in a tense competition. The winning dish will actually be on the restaurant menu the very next day, so viewers can all flock to gobble up the dish they were eating with their eyes the night before.

Bonus - for the first three featured restaurants, you'll be able to download a special offer here to take with you when you go taste for yourself the tummy-rumbling creations you watched come to life.
